Matthew Steele

Meet Matthew!

Matthew joined the Towerwood Team in August 2023, making him one of the newer vets here at Towerwood. Originally, Matthew is from Somerset (the twang of farmer does come out occasionally). He went to Girton College at the University of Cambridge to become a vet and graduated in 2020. Initially Matthew moved up north to work just outside Chesterfield but has also worked in Barnsley before moving up Leeds way with his partner Oliver. 

Matthew applied to Towerwood because he loved the sound of their ethos, caring attitude and brilliant team! His favourite part of the job is the operations that he gets to perform but especially making sure that the patients he treats are pain free, with anaesthesia and analgesia being a passion of his! 

Matthew has a black Labrador called Molly back in Somerset who enjoys tearing up her cuddly toys and running around in the fields. He has always been a dog person but ever since starting work as a vet, cats have really made their way into Matthew’s heart and the next pet he gets will definitely be a big ginger tom cat!

Outside of work Matthew loves to read (he can spend hours and hours in a bookshop), craft (crochet is a current favourite of his) and to go for long walks in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside Matthew now gets to call his home!
