What fantastic support we had this summer!
The Towerwood Team have all been busy this summer raising money for Hounds for Heroes, and we’ve just wrapped up the seemingly distant summer season of fundraising a few weeks ago by picking the lucky winners for our ‘name the build-a-bear’ and ‘guess how many sweets in the jar’. So we now have our final totals of how much we’ve raised for Hounds for Heroes, and we wanted to share them with you and say a HUGE thank you to everyone who helped raise fantastic amount for this wonderful charity.
So what did we do?
We joined in the fun at Rawdon Funday on 6th June; enjoyed meeting lots of happy hounds at Horsforth Gala on 27th June for our mini dog show; galloped with the horses at Arthington Show on 5th July; all this on the run up to our annual charity fundraising fun dog show on 30th August, which saw over 80 top dogs through our temporary ring in Horsforth Hall Park.
We’ve had a fantastic time and all of us now have a warm fuzzy feeling inside as we pass a cheque to Hounds for Heroes for £966.22 from this summers fundraising!! An amazing amount that we could only have raised with the fantastic support of the lovely pet owners of North Leeds and their families. Here’s a breakdown of what we raised and where:
Rawdon Funday – 6th June
Our team set up for what turned out to be a very blustery day up at the annual Rawdon Funday. Our team battled broken tents and endured chilly fingers to see the day out with a very successful £98.00 amount raised via our ‘name the build-a-bear’, a ‘guess how many sweets in the jar’ competition and a raffle to win a fantastic hamper full of goodies including an i-pad. Well done to the Rawdon Funday team for continuing to organise a worthwhile event for good causes despite the weather!
Horsforth Gala – 27th June
Horsforth Gala is a growing event being held in Horsforth Hall Park every year, with a fantastic parade through Horsforth Town Street to mark the occasion. It’s always a lovely time of year and this year for the first time this year we held a mini dog show with goody bags and rosettes for the winners. Our friend, esteemed and experienced judge Brian Doyle, joined us for the day and helped to run a great little show for everyone who entered. We raised a fabulous £120.06 which included dog show entries, build-a-bear, yet another sweetie jar and our hamper raffle. A huge thank you to the organisers of Horsforth Gala for their support and allowing us to have a mini-ring for our dog show, we hope to see you again next year! You can see our fabulous photos from the day by clicking here to our Facebook page.
Arthington Show – 5th July
We love joining in the agricultural aspects of Arthington with the horses, sheep and pigs we don’t often encounter in a small animal practice. The fun terrier racing is always a highlight at the end of the show when owners dogs can also join in. It was fantastic to meet lots of new people and their pets. Our well-travelled build-a-bear, refreshed sweetie jar and our hamper returned for another outing, all raising £91.62 for Hounds for Heroes. Thank you to everyone who said hello and donated their time and money.
Towerwood Fun Dog Show – Sunday 31st August
It was all building up to this, our 2nd annual charity fundraising dog show in Horsforth Hall Park. We enjoyed doing it so much last year that we were back again for seconds, and our fabulous clients, Facebook friends and new friends from around Horsforth didn’t let us down and all joined in to help us raise an amazing total of £656.52 all for Hounds for Heroes. With the sponsors from local businesses, our practice suppliers and support networks donating prizes and funding to help run the show, it meant that ALL donated money and entry fees for the show is going to Hounds for Heroes. We had more goodies this year with a food and ice creams, professional photography from Peeps and Paws. We remain so very grateful to all those companies and individuals that supported us and made our second show an even bigger success than last years. So THANK YOU!!!
So what next?
Well, we will all be hibernating for the winter in the practice to continue to provide the quality pet care you expect from us. We have just wrapped up our Model Moggies competition in aid of Leeds Feline Friends, and would encourage everyone to come and buy the calendar featuring our winners all for a fantastic local cat rescue. We will be back next year with bigger and better fundraising ideas for our dogs and cats in need, so see you all again next summer folks!
Help us to find a deserving local charity for next year!
We are supporting Hounds for Heroes and Leeds Feline Friends this year, and we select a dog and a cat charity to support each year. We love local charities, so if you know of a local Leeds or Bradford based charity that you would like us to consider supporting with our fundraising activities next year please get in touch.
