We’ve been looking back on a great summer of fundraising for Medical Detection Dogs, finishing off with our own Horsforth Dog Show fundraising event at the end of the summer. The people we’ve met along the way helped us to raise a total of £1533.95 for a fantastic cause! Here’s what we got up to.
We started off the summer in June on a scorching weekend by joining in the fun at Rawdon Funday on the 4th June, and we helped the Donkey Sanctuary raise money for their charity and our charity on 5th June. A busy weekend but the weather was great and the general public were fantastic turning out to help these great fun days. In all we raised £226 that weekend for Medical Detection Dogs. We ran a raffle, and a name the build-a-bear, and chatted to lots of pet owners, and dog owners about microchipping now it’s the law.
At the end of June we always attend Horsforth Gala on the last Saturday, another good weather day even though it was a bit cloudy. This year it was on 25th June. Here we ran a teddy tombola, hamper raffles, and a mini fun dog show that everyone always enjoys.
Our fab team also ran a fantastic Have-A-Go agility! Our fantastic winner was the adorable Minny. We think she looks very proud of herself here with her well earned trophy for being the fastest round the track. In total we raised a fabulous £258.16 at Horsforth Gala.
Into July and we attended Arthington Show on the 3rd July, Hope Pastures fundraising fun dog show on 17th July, and Weeton Show on 31st July. The weather turned out for us again on the whole, and a big thank you to everyone who helped us raise £362.80 across these shows in July. We continued to run raffles throughout and our teddy tombola was very popular at Weeton Show where everyone seemed to want to grab a bargain teddy and help us raise money for Medical Detection Dogs.
This was all leading up to our annual Horsforth Dog Show on 4th September that we hold in Horsforth Hall Park every year. This year was our 3rd year, and getting bigger and better all the time! We were stifled by the weather a little, but a huge thank you to Horsforth Cricket Club joining forces with us to give us a great space to hold the dog show, and some shelter when the rain came down. Everyone had a fantastic day despite the rain, and we raised a total of £633.19 for Medical Detection Dogs!
There were rosettes and goody bags for all the winners, those who topped in at the top 3 of the judges choice. Our fabulous judges Brian, Colleen and Elaine returned this year to help out with the judging. We don’t know how they do it, everyone who enters our dog show are top stars with us!
A huge thank you to everyone who got involved, and we hope that everyone returns to help us raise money for another worthy cause next year. Heres a selection of photos of our supporters and our winners groups, and keep a close eye on Facebook this week where we will post the rest of the fantastic photos from Simon, our fabulous photographer for the day. We hope that you will all join us again next year, the date for your diary is Sunday 3rd September, same place.
A huge thank from all the Towerwood Team for making our summer fundraising a really great one this year. In total, with some added fundraising within our reception, we’ve raised a total of £1533.95! This is all going to Medical Detection Dogs where it will help to train dogs as medical assistance dogs for those in need.
