Has your pet got a Healthy Heart?

…and we want to help you to help your pet have the healthiest heart too!

Has your pet displayed any of these symptoms recently?

  • Fainting or collapsing episodes
  • Panting more on walks
  • Coughing
  • Reluctance to exercise
  • Increased breathing rate

If so then take action now and bring your pet in for a health check. For a limited time we are offering reduced price scans in house for any pet where we discover a heart murmur with a score of 3 or more.

You can download a care plan here to record your visit, please either print this out and bring with you to your appointment or make a note of your pets resting heart rate at home.

We also need to ask you to do a bit of homework with your pet too, if you don’t mind? Don’t worry, it’s nothing scary, but pets are often scared coming to the vets and they pant when they are worried making it really difficult for us to get a good idea of what their true breathing rate is. So for our lovely vets to get an accurate breathing rate, it’s so much better to get this when they are at their most relaxed, which is usually at home snuggled up in bed.

So grab a watch with a second hand, or use a timer on your phone set to 30 seconds, and follow these simple instructions.

1- Find your pet when they are asleep, but don’t wake them up!

2- Start your timer, or take note of the second hand.

3- Count how many breaths they take in 30 seconds.

4- Multiply the number of breaths by 2, and you have your ‘resting breathing rate’.

Once you have this figure, please note it down on the downloadable care plan and we can do the rest from there!
